Jedna z najvýraznejších osobností modernej vedy, vynálezca hmotnostného spektrometra Orbitrap, fyzik Alexander A. Makarov, navštívil Ústav organickej chémie a biochémie Akadémie vied Českej republiky.
Tento vedec zásadne ovplyvnil výskum v proteomike, metabolomike a biomedicíne – jeho objav totiž umožnil využívať pokročilé analýzy v ultravysokom rozlíšení.
Alexander A. Makarov vedie vývoj v oblasti hmotnostnej spektrometrie v spoločnosti Thermo Fisher Scientific v Brémach a pôsobí tiež na Univerzite v Utrechte. Od prvých systémov LTQ Orbitrap (2005) pomohol rozvinúť celú generáciu prístrojov, ktoré posúvajú hranice rýchlosti, citlivosti i presnosti. Za svoju prácu obdržal celý rad prestížnych medzinárodných ocenení.

One of the most prominent figures in modern science, the inventor of the Orbitrap mass spectrometer, physicist Alexander A. Makarov, visited IOCB Prague. His work has had a profound impact on research in proteomics, metabolomics, and biomedicine — his discovery enables advanced ultra-high-resolution analyses.
Alexander A. Makarov leads mass spectrometry development at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Bremen and is also affiliated with Utrecht University. Since the first LTQ Orbitrap systems (2005), he has helped develop an entire generation of instruments that push the boundaries of speed, sensitivity, and accuracy. For his work, he has received numerous prestigious international awards.
